Description:
Chicago-based IssueLab (http://www.issuelab.org) is looking for the right individual to help us grow our collection of nonprofit-produced research. This is a great opportunity for someone with strong research skills and an interest in the nonprofit sector. As a start-up we value creativity and commitment, while requiring a hands-on, get-it-done attitude. If you have knowledge and experience with the nonprofit sector, are as comfortable picking up the phone as you are surfing the Internet, know how to use the web efficiently, and understand what it means to build a collection of research that is representative of the third sector and the social issues it tackles – we want to meet you.
JOB DESCRIPTION: The Research/Collections Assistant will be responsible for growing the IssueLab archive. You will report directly to and work closely with Issuelab’s co-directors to systematically identify and make contact with potential research contributors. You will serve as the primary point of contact with research organizations, using the web to identify research that can be added to the collection and then following up on those leads over the phone.
QUALIFICATIONS: + Professional research experience. + Ability to communicate with passion and confidence about IssueLab's mission on the phone and through email. + Strong organizational skills. + Well-developed knowledge of online search tools and web-based research methods. + Knowledge of the nonprofit sector a plus. + Interest in pushing your own skills to the next level and applying your expertise to an online service that is making a real difference.
ABOUT ISSUELAB: We are a hard-working team of individuals who have years of experience in web development and marketing/communications for the nonprofit sector. In short, we are a group of over-achieving information geeks who take IssueLab's mission seriously, but know not to take ourselves too seriously! We offer a casual work environment, flexible work hours, and a solid benefits package.
How to Apply:
Please email a cover letter and resume to jobs@issuelab.org. No phone calls please.
